Fire Weather Planning Forecast for East Central Florida
National Weather Service Melbourne FL
347 AM EDT Sat May 18 2024

...HEAT ADVISORY IN EFFECT FROM 10 AM THIS MORNING TO 8 PM EDT
THIS EVENING...

.Discussion...

Moisture increases this weekend as a frontal boundary approaches
east central Florida. Scattered to numerous showers and scattered
lightning storms are forecast this afternoon and again on Sunday.
Isolated severe storms will be possible. Increasing moisture will
keep min RH values above critical values. West to southwest winds
increasing to around 10 mph will keep the east coast sea breeze
pinned to the coast this afternoon. Winds veer northwest overnight
Sunday behind the cold front passage. Very good to excellent smoke
dispersion is forecast through the weekend.

Above seasonal temperatures are forecast today, with highs climbing
into the mid to upper 90s. Combined with increasing moisture, heat
index values will widely range 104-110 across much of east central
Florida. A Heat Advisory is in effect for southern Brevard, Okeechobee
and the Treasure Coast counties.

Fog potential and other remarks...Localized patchy fog is forecast
to develop across Lake and western Orange counties as well
as portions of the Treasure Coast early this morning. Any fog that
develops will lift after sunrise. Localized visibility reductions
due to smoke from new or existing fires will be possible even if
fog is not forecast.
