Open Lake Forecast for Lake Superior
National Weather Service Marquette MI
437 AM EDT Sun May 12 2024

For waters beyond 5 nautical miles of shore on Lake Superior.

Waves are the significant wave height - the average of the
highest 1/3 of the wave spectrum. Occasional wave height is the
average of the highest 1/10 of the wave spectrum.

.SYNOPSIS...A 29.4 inch low over far northwestern Ontario this
morning is beginning to bring 29.6 inch troughing over the western
lake. As the low weakens slightly throughout the rest of today,
the troughing over the lake strengthens to 29.5 inches as it
spreads across the rest of Lake Superior. As the low continues
east tonight, expect it and its associated troughing over Lake
Superior to weaken, with the low arriving at James Bay Monday
morning. From Monday into Wednesday, high pressure slowly builds
in over northern Ontario, with ridging becoming maximized over
Lake Superior at 30.1 inches by Wednesday morning. By Thursday, a
29.8 inch low moving through the Northern PLains approaches the
Upper Great Lakes.
