...AIR QUALITY HEALTH ADVISORY FOR WILDFIRE SMOKE FROM 400 PM
SATURDAY UNTIL 900 AM SUNDAY...

The Colorado Department of Public Health and Environment has
issued the following...

WHAT...Air Quality Health Advisory for Wildfire Smoke.

WHERE...Saguache, Chaffee, Fremont Counties.

WHEN...400 PM Saturday September 14 to 900 AM Sunday September 15

ADDITIONAL DETAILS...Outlook: Periods of moderate to heavy smoke
are expected from the Decker wildfire Saturday evening through
Sunday morning. For Saturday evening smoke will generally move to
the east of the fire towards areas in northwestern Fremont County,
and could bring periods of heavy smoke to Salida, Cleora,
Wellsville, Howard, Coaldale, and Cotopaxi. However, light,
overnight drainage winds will allow smoke to settle in low lying
terrain below the fire in both the far northern San Luis Valley
and in the Arkansas River Valley in this area. Smoke is expected
Saturday night and Sunday morning in locations below the fire to
the south and southwest in northeastern Saguache County; and to
the east in northwestern Fremont County. Areas with the heaviest
smoke impacts will be along and near US Highway 285, from Alder
south to Villa Grove; and along Highway 50 from Salida to
Coaldale.

HEALTH INFORMATION...Public Health Recommendations: If smoke is
thick or becomes thick in your neighborhood you may want to remain
indoors. This is especially true for those with heart disease,
respiratory illnesses, the very young, and the elderly. Consider
limiting outdoor activity when moderate to heavy smoke is present.
Consider relocating temporarily if smoke is present indoors and is
making you ill. If visibility is less than 5 miles in smoke in
your neighborhood, smoke has reached levels that are unhealthy.
