.THE 2019 SUMMER SEASON WAS WARMER THAN NORMAL WITH BELOW NORMAL
PRECIPITATION AT DULUTH MN...

THE AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR THE SUMMER SEASON WAS 66.3 DEGREES WHICH
WAS 2.9 DEGREES ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 63.4 DEGREES...MAKING THIS THE
5TH WARMEST SUMMER IN STATION HISTORY. THE HIGHEST TEMPERATURE FOR
THE SUMMER WAS 89 DEGREES ON JULY 12TH AND 15TH. THE LOWEST
TEMPERATURE FOR THE SUMMER WAS 40 DEGREES ON JUNE 2ND. NO MONTHLY
TEMPERATURE RECORDS WERE BROKEN THIS SUMMER...BUT JULY WAS THE 4TH
WARMEST IN STATION HISTORY WITH AN AVERAGE TEMPERATURE OF 71.1
DEGREES. THE NORMAL AVERAGE TEMPERATURE FOR JULY IS 65.8 DEGREES.

THE SUMMER OF 2019 WAS BELOW NORMAL FOR PRECIPITATION WITH A TOTAL
OF 9.24 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION RECORDED. THIS WAS 2.54 INCHES BELOW
THE NORMAL OF 11.78 INCHES. THE GREATEST DAILY  PRECIPITATION
OCCURRED ON JULY 28TH WHERE 1.53 INCHES INCHES WAS RECORDED. AT
LEAST 0.01 INCHES OF PRECIPITATION FELL ON 32 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.10
INCHES FELL ON 21 DAYS. AT LEAST 0.50 INCHES FELL ON 5 DAYS. AT
LEAST 1 INCH FELL ON 2 DAYS. NO MONTHLY PRECIPITATION RECORDS WERE
BROKEN THIS SUMMER.

THE AVERAGE WIND SPEED FOR THE SUMMER WAS 8.2 MPH. THE HIGHEST
SUSTAINED WIND OCCURRED ON AUGUST 5TH WITH A SPEED OF 41 MPH OUT OF
THE WEST. THE HIGHEST PEAK WIND GUST OCCURRED ON AUGUST 5TH WITH A
SPEED OF 61 MPH.

THERE WERE 174 HEATING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE SUMMER WHICH WAS 155
BELOW THE NORMAL OF 329. THERE WERE 322 COOLING DEGREE DAYS FOR THE
SUMMER WHICH WAS 136 ABOVE THE NORMAL OF 186.

THE OUTLOOK FOR FALL...NORMAL HIGHS START IN THE LOW 70S IN EARLY
SEPTEMBER AND COOL TO THE LOW 30S BY THE END OF NOVEMBER. NORMAL
LOWS START IN THE MID 50S IN EARLY SEPTEMBER AND COOL TO THE UPPER
TEENS BY THE END OF NOVEMBER. NORMAL PRECIPITATION FOR THE FALL IS
8.17 INCHES. NORMAL SNOWFALL FOR THE FALL IS 16.1 INCHES. THE LATEST
CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER OUTLOOK INDICATES THAT ODDS ARE TILTED
TOWARD ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES AND SLIGHTLY TILTED TOWARD ABOVE
NORMAL PRECIPITATION.
