271 FNUS55 KPUB 081108 FWFPUB Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado National Weather Service Pueblo Co 408 AM MST Sun Feb 8 2026 ...A Fire Weather Watch has been issued for portions of the I-25 corridor for Monday afternoon... .Discussion... Critical fire weather conditions are expected on Monday, mainly through our gap flow areas of Pueblo and Huerfano counties. Areas that may need to be added later include but are not limited to; southern El Paso, Fremont, Las Animas, and Baca counties, where current forecast conditions suggest that either winds will not meet criteria, or fuels have been deemed not receptive by partners. Humidity values are expected to fall into the teens for high mountain valleys on Monday, with single digits across the I-25 corridor and our southern plains. Near record high temperatures are likely for Monday as well. The main wild card will be winds. For now, winds in excess of 25 mph for three hours looks to be confined to our gap flows, but this will need to be closely monitored. A cold front pushes through Tuesday morning ushering in cooler temperatures. Snow chances return to the forecast from late Tuesday onwards, especially for the high country, though accumulations look to be light early in the forecast period. Afternoon smoke dispersions will be poor to fair along and west of the Continental Divide today, and for the San Luis Valley. Our eastern plains and the lee slopes of the eastern mountains should see fair to good rates. For tomorrow, rates will vary drastically by zone.
