Unseasonably warm temperatures will continue through Friday, with isolated showers and thunderstorms in and near the mountains. Though little to no rain should actually hit the ground, gusty outflow winds are expected with any passing storms. Near-critical fire weather conditions will be possible over the southern plains Thursday afternoon, though wind gusts will not be consistent enough to warrant any highlights. More widespread critical conditions are expected Friday as winds increase ahead of an incoming system. A Fire Weather Watch has been hoisted for portions of the I-25 corridor, San Luis Valley, and Fremont County. These conditions will coincide with very warm, near record- breaking high temperatures both Thursday and Friday. A front will move in late Friday into Saturday, bringing cooler temperatures and higher chances for precipitation across most of the district, lasting through this weekend. Temperatures begin to warm once again next week, but a series of weak disturbances will keep at least isolated showers and thunderstorms in the forecast. Moderate instability is forecast over the higher terrain tomorrow afternoon through early evening. Surface-based inversions will begin to break between 1000 and 1100 tomorrow, with ventilation rates improving to Very Good to Excellent for most areas by 1300. Favorable smoke dispersion is expected to persist until 1900.
