A much quieter night compared to Tuesday night encompassed the
region. Cloud cover departed the Heartland to the east, leaving
most of the area in the 50s and 60s overnight. Sunrise
temperatures will be roughly 5 to 10 degrees cooler, with lows in
the 40s and 50s.

The stretch of quiet conditions will continue today, with surface
high pressure leading to light south winds and temperatures in
the 70s and 80s. By this evening and tonight, chances for showers
and thunderstorms are expected to increase across portions of the
region, as a strong cold front approaches from the north. The
front will usher in falling temperatures and strong north winds by
late tonight into early Thursday.
