Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Western
and North Central Nebraska
National Weather Service North Platte NE
304 AM CDT Wed Aug 12 2020

.DISCUSSION...

Temperatures will soar into the upper 90s in Zone 204 today and
Thursday. The hotter temperatures combined with low relative
humidity will elevate fire concerns as the upper ridge builds eastward.
Convection will move off the high plains daily where high based
thunderstorms bring an increased risk for lightning ignited fires
where drought impacts have increased due to the lack of rainfall.

The leeside trough on the high plains focuses daily convection that will
move east Thursday night into Friday as the upper ridge builds east for
cooler readings in the west heading into the weekend.
