A warming trend continued across Kansas under sunny skies with
afternoon temperatures bringing summer like heat especially in
western and northern portions of the state which reached 100
degrees. The eastern half of the state had temperatures closer to
90 degrees though. For many locations, the winds offered some
relief with speeds from 10 to 25 mph and gusts near 30 mph.

This evening should stay quiet weather wise in the Central Plains
with most of the storm activity staying over the Northern Plains.
Temperatures are forecast to drop to the mid 50s in western
Nebraska to the lower 70s in most of Kansas. Mostly clear skies
should prevail. Winds will range from light and variable over
Nebraska to southerly at 5 to 15 mph in Kansas and Oklahoma.

The century marking heat will spread further east on Thursday to
cover much of Kansas and western Oklahoma. Make sure to take heat
precautions especially in the afternoon with heat indices
reaching 105 degrees from the south central to northeast Kansas.
Afternoon showers and thunderstorms are possible in northern
Kansas and southern Nebraska. A front will move through resulting
in southerly winds ahead of it and northerly winds behind it at
speeds of 10 to 20 mph.
