Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service San Angelo TX
228 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

...New LONG TERM...

.SHORT TERM...
(Today and tonight)
Issued at 354 AM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

Mid/upper level ridge will remain in place across the region this
weekend, which will result in dry conditions with above normal
temperatures again today. Extensive high clouds, emanating from
Tropical Storm Ileana which is currently over the Gulf of
California, will persist across the area today. The high clouds
may temper temperatures a bit but afternoon highs are still
expected to top out in the mid and upper 90s, with a few readings
around 100 degrees across the Big Country. Temperatures will be a
few degrees cooler tonight, as high clouds begin to decrease
across the area, with lows mainly in the lower 70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Sunday night through next Saturday)
Issued at 200 PM CDT Sat Sep 14 2024

Outside of some lingering isolated showers and thunderstorms
across our southeastern counties on Sunday night, strengthening
upper-level ridging aloft will lead to mostly warm and dry
conditions for much of this coming work week. Models are starting
to show signs of an upper-level trough sweeping into the region
from the west and bringing some rain chances for late next week
into next weekend, but confidence remains low at this time in the
timing and placement of any showers that do develop. High
temperatures for this week look to remain in the low to mid 90s
through much of the week, however any increased cloud cover or
showers could bring those temperatures down slightly later in the
week.

.AVIATION...

near 17 knots will continue through the afternoon hours.
