720 FXUS64 KSJT 061932 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 232 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024 ...New SHORT TERM... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Friday) Issued at 230 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024 Mainly a hot and dry forecast to continue for West Central Texas. Thunderstorms are expected to develop over western Oklahoma and the Texas Panhandle late this afternoon and evening. Looks like most of this activity will remain north of our area, although cannot rule out a storm or two making it into northwest portions of the Big Country before dissipating later this evening. Confidence is fairly low, so will maintain slight POPs across this area this evening. Also, latest visible satellite imagery shows a cumulus field developing over the Concho Valley and northern Edwards Plateau early this afternoon. Latest CAMs show the potential for isolated development late this afternoon and early evening. Again, confidence is quite low over this area as well, but will add an isolated mention through the early evening hours. Otherwise, expect warm temperatures tonight, with overnight lows mainly in the low to mid 70s. High pressure will be centered over the area tomorrow, with hot and dry weather prevailing. Expect highs tomorrow afternoon ranging from the mid/upper 90s east, to the low 100s west. && .LONG TERM... (Friday through Wednesday) Issued at 239 AM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024 ...Hot and dry through Saturday, then unsettled weather possible for next week... High pressure aloft will persist across West Central Texas through much of the weekend, with hot and dry conditions expected through Saturday. Afternoon highs are expected to reach into the mid 90s to near 104, with overnight lows in the 70s through Saturday. A weak disturbance will track into the area Sunday, bringing increased cloud cover and chances for some showers and thunderstorms, as well as resulting in slightly cooler temperatures. For the start of the workweek next week, models continue to show the ridge weakening and eventually shifting south and westward by Tuesday. This will allow the next in a series of shortwave troughs to track over the area, bringing cooler but more unsettled conditions to West Central Texas. Specifically for Monday, a surface cold front will track across the area Sunday night into Monday bringing afternoon high temperatures for Monday back into the low 80s to low 90s. Temperatures will begin to gradually trend back upwards into the 90s by the later half of next week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1238 PM CDT Thu Jun 6 2024 VFR conditions will prevail across the terminals the next 24 hours, with light winds through the period. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
