.DISCUSSION...
(This evening through next Friday)

Northeastern Nevada remains in a Col region in between a upper
level low over southern California and the main westerly flow over
the northern tier. Patchy morning fog/freezing fog will remain
possible through the weekend thanks to high humidity levels during
the night. Aside from the fog, quiet weather conditions with
light winds and warming temperatures remain for the weekend. This
Col region will be replaced with weak shortwave ridging Sunday as
the upper low shifts east across the central plains. Monday a
shortwave trough will cross the Pacific NW within the prevailing
westerly flow and clip far northern NV, this will bring a low
chance of isolated snow showers across the mountains of northern
Elko county. Accumulations look to be less than an inch over the
Jarbidge with a trace possible for the Independence Range. Tuesday
through Thanksgiving weak upper level ridging returns with quiet
weather and warming temperatures. Friday into the holiday weekend
model confidence is waning on the potential for a upper trough
bringing rain and snow back to the region as the GFS and the EC
have now shifted the track northward which would limit and
impacts, if any out of our area. However with this system still at
the far end of the forecast changes are still possible but
confidence is low at this time.

FORECAST CONFIDENCE & DEVIATIONS:

There is high confidence for quiet weather conditions with
warming temperatures through Sunday. There is moderate confidence
in the development of early morning development of patchy
fog/freezing fog across northern Nevada through Monday morning.

There is moderate confidence in the development of isolated snow
showers over the mountains of N Elko County Monday.

There is low confidence in the passage of a upper trough Friday
through thanksgiving weekend as model trends have shifted to the
north.
