643 FXUS64 KSJT 071917 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 117 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025 ...New LONG TERM... .KEY MESSAGES... - Drier conditions expected through Saturday, with potential for elevated fire weather concerns with gusty winds Saturday afternoon. - Gusty north-northeast winds are expected Saturday night into Sunday, in the wake of a strong cold frontal passage. - A freeze is anticipated early Monday morning with lows mostly in the upper 20s to lower 30s. - Gusty south-southwest winds possible Tuesday with much warmer temperatures in the latter half of the week. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Saturday) Issued at 1218 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025 A weak cold front continues to traverse southeastward trough portions of our southeastern Counties, bringing some breezy northerly winds through early this evening and some cooler temperatures to West Central Texas. The drier air mass behind the front will allow temperatures to drop into the 40s and 50s overnight tonight into Saturday morning, and minimum RH values to remain in the teens to 25 percent range. With the lower RH values and gusty winds Saturday afternoon across portions of the Western Big Country and NW Concho Valley, there are some concerns for elevated fire weather conditions. However, confidence remains lower at this time given the much cooler temperatures being a limiting factor. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday night through next Friday) Issued at 115 PM CST Fri Nov 7 2025 In the wake of the Saturday afternoon and evening strong cold frontal passage, much cooler air will overspread our area Saturday night into Sunday, accompanied by gusty north winds. This to occur with a surface high pressure ridge building south across the Great Plains and into Texas. This will make it feel chilly on Sunday, especially in the morning. Morning lows on Sunday will be in the 40s, with afternoon highs in the 50s to lower 60s. A freeze is likely across our area late Sunday night and early Monday morning, as the aforementioned surface high settles into northern and central Texas. A combination of clear skies, light winds and a dry airmass will result in ideal radiational cooling. At this time, going with lows in the upper 20s to lower 30s, although low-lying areas could have lows in the mid 20s. Temperatures will remain cool on Monday despite full sunshine, with highs in the upper 50s and lower 60s. Light winds will become south Monday afternoon, as the surface high shifts east into the lower Mississippi Valley. A warming trend will begin Tuesday with gusty south-southwest winds, with increased pressure gradient and lee surface trough development to our west. Will have to monitor for the potential of elevated fire weather conditions with these conditions, given the forecast low relative humidity values Tuesday afternoon. The warming trend will continue in the mid-to-late week time frame. An upper level ridge will be over the southwestern CONUS Tuesday, and is progged to gradually shift east into Texas by the start of next weekend. Dry conditions will continue for our area, and highs are expected to get back into the 80s for the latter half of the week. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1143 AM CST Fri Nov 7 2025 VFR conditions are expected through the next 24 hours across all terminals, with breezy northerly winds this afternoon subsiding by this evening and becoming light and variable through Saturday morning. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
