Northerly push arrived close to on schedule this morning. Some
stratus has developed north of the terminals but satellite trends
don`t suggest that this will cause too many issues this morning.
There could still be a brief period of near MVFR cigs but not high
enough confidence to include in the TAF. Winds today will slowly
turn more to the east/southeast by the late morning or early
afternoon with a gradual increase in speeds as well.
Still quite a bit of uncertainty in the forecast late this
afternoon into tonight. Storm coverage again looks highest east of
the terminals but there`s a brief period between 21-00z today
where storms could develop this far west. PROB30 still seems
appropriate for this potential. Beyond that, a wind shift back to
the north is likely sometime this evening along with an increase
in low cloud cover. Poor model agreement with the timing and
amount of low clouds and the current forecast is close to a middle
ground. Potential is still there for several hours of MVFR/IFR
cigs overnight depending how moisture plays out.

VFR conditions are expected to prevail for KALS and KPUB, and mostly
for KCOS, throughout the forecast period. Winds will be synoptically
influenced by an approaching system, which will cause winds to
become rather gusty out of the SW tomorrow at all terminals, with
gusts as high as 35kts at KALS, 32kts at KCOS and 30kts at KPUB.
There will be FROPA at KCOS around 04Z and KPUB around 05Z, but may
come a little sooner depending on acceleration of the front. This
will cause winds to shift to a NNW-NNE`ly direction at both
terminals. Winds will continue to weaken towards the end of the
forecast period. There is low confidence (less than 20%) for SHRA
and TSRA to be in and around the vicinity of all stations later in
the afternoon and evening today, although because confidence is low
it has been left out of the TAFs at this time. If SHRA/TSRA does
develop, it could temporarily reduce CIGs and VIS to MVFR/IFR
criteria. It could also result in periodic windshifts and increased
wind speeds for all terminals. -Stewey

reductions to MVFR will be possible with convection. South of
I-70 will stay dry and breezy with gusts of 30 to 40 kts Monday
afternoon. Showers become more widespread Monday evening and
overnight as a larger system begins to push through the area.

conditions. A low chance (15-25%) exists for showers east of a
KFLG-KRQE line today which could produce locally erratic and
strong wind gusts.

.AVIATION...KSLC...Trough and associated cold front move through
during TAF cycle. Shower activity will tend to be scattered, though
a more consistent banded feature appears likely somewhere along/near
the front. If this impacts the terminal, most likely window
currently seems to be between ~12-18Z. Generally expect BKN to OVC
VFR cloud cover, but around a 10-20% chance of MVFR conditions
possible in any heavier precipitation. Precipitation chances begin
to decrease and become more isolated Monday evening into the
overnight hours. Winds favored to remain NW, with occasional gusts,
primarily Monday afternoon.
.REST OF UTAH AND SOUTHWEST WYOMING...A system will progress into
the region and push a cold front southward as it does so. For
northern terminals, will see scattered showers continue to develop
as a result, likely along with a band of more consistent showers
along/near the cold front. Largely anticipate conditions to remain
VFR with BKN to OVC CIGS, but around a 10-20% chance of MVFR
conditions will be possible within any heavier precipitation. At
southern terminals, scattered shower/thunderstorm chances increase
by the afternoon, with subsequent frontal passage expected likely by
late Monday evening. For areas behind the front, a more northerly
component to the wind direction is favored.

Showers will continue from the southwest corner of WY to
Natrona/southern Johnson County to begin the TAF period,
skirting the KRIW/KLND and KCPR terminals. These showers will
continue through the rest of the morning, becoming widespread
across the rest of the CWA through the afternoon. MVFR
conditions are expected with these showers. Any shower activity
near KJAC will be late this afternoon into the early evening,
but confidence is too low to include in the forecast at this
time. Precipitation will become more focused east of the Divide
after 00Z, with rain and mountain snow and mountain
obscurations. IFR/MVFR conditions will occur with the rain, with
LIFR/IFR conditions more common after 06Z. Although temperatures
will be well below normal for mid-May, snow is not expected.

VFR conditions are likely through the bulk of the valid forecast
period. Main aviation concerns will focus on transient, shallow
fog early in the period followed by gusty winds during the
daytime and then the threat for rain and thunderstorms late.
Shallow fog has floated around the LBF terminal. Forecast
soundings show very shallow moisture near the surface but this
is expected to shift east closer to sunrise as winds increase
out of the north. Winds will gradually veer to easterly during
the daytime with gusts increasing to 25 to 30 knots as they do.
Eventually rain and thunderstorms will move in from the west.
Timing of this is medium confidence at this time with 1-2 hour
difference in various short-term guidance at this time. For now,
will hedge towards the mean value with adjustments possible
later. Convection will likely contain gusty erratic winds and at
least MVFR visibility reductions. Further degraded conditions
are possible but will hold off on including at this time.

Low clouds and patchy fog will give way to partly cloudy skies
and VFR conditions by late this morning or early this afternoon
at both KGLD and KMCK. This evening, scattered showers and
thunderstorms will develop across the region. Best chances for
impacts will be at KMCK from mid to late evening and into the
overnight hours. Chances are slightly lower at KGLD. Stronger
storms will be capable of producing large hail and damaging wind
gusts.

Nighttime microphysics channel satellite imagery at 0900z showed
widespread stratus expanding rapidly across SW KS, amid moist
easterly upslope flow. Short term models agree that IFR to at
times LIFR stratus ceilings will impact all airports for the
next several hours, likely through 15z Mon. After 15z, stratus
is expected to dissolve from south to north, but latest models
have slowed this process by 1-2 hours, and made that adjustment
in this set of TAFs. VFR is expected to return to all airports
by 18z Mon, or shortly after. Light winds will continue Monday,
generally with a SEly component. Winds will assume a more
westerly component toward the end of this TAF period.

VFR conditions are expected for the next 24 hours. West to
southwest winds will gradually in speed through the afternoon
hours. Strongest winds are expected across western NM where gusts
may near 45kt, including at KGUP. A batch of mid level moisture
will also increase mid and high level cloud cover across central
and western NM during the afternoon hours. A Pacific cold
front/cold pool outflow boundary will race from west to east
during the late afternoon and evening hours. Virga and/or light
rain along the boundary will be possible across northwest and
north central NM which will enhance the potential for gusty and
erratic winds, potentially near 50kt. The boundary will push
through ABQ/AEG/SAF between 00 and 02Z Tue before continuing
across eastern NM. An Airport Weather Warning will likely be
needed for the ABQ Sunport during the late afternoon and evening
hours, particularly when the boundary pushes through.
