...70 DEGREE STATISTICS FOR CHICAGO AND ROCKFORD...

APRIL 8 2014.

THE LONG-TERM AVERAGE FIRST 70 DEGREE DAY OF THE SEASON IS ON
MARCH 31ST IN CHICAGO AND APRIL 2ND IN ROCKFORD. SO WE`RE ABOUT
A WEEK LATE AT BOTH LOCATIONS FOR THE FIRST 70 DEGREE READING OF THE
SEASON. FOR REFERENCE...THE FIRST 70 DEGREE DAY OF 2013 OCCURRED ON
APRIL 6TH IN CHICAGO BUT NOT UNTIL ALMOST THE END OF APRIL ON THE
29TH IN ROCKFORD. THIS WAS THE LATEST FIRST 70 ON RECORD (SINCE
1906) IN ROCKFORD! ON THE OTHER HAND...THANKS TO THE HISTORIC EARLY
SEASON WARMTH IN MARCH 2012...THE FIRST 70 DEGREE DAY THAT SEASON
CAME ON MARCH 13TH IN CHICAGO AND MARCH 14TH IN ROCKFORD. THE LATEST
FIRST 70 DEGREE DAY IN CHICAGO CAME ALL THE WAY BACK ON MAY 7TH 1874.

DESPITE GENERALLY ABOVE NORMAL TEMPERATURES FOR THE NEXT SEVERAL
DAYS...IT IS UNCERTAIN WHETHER BOTH CHICAGO OR ROCKFORD WILL REACH
70 IN THE NEXT WEEK...WITH THE BEST CHANCE TO DO SO LIKELY OVER THE
WEEKEND. IF NEITHER LOCATION REACHES 70 OVER THE WEEKEND...IT COULD
BE QUITE A WHILE UNTIL THE NEXT OPPORTUNITY TO REACH 70 COMES. THE
CLIMATE PREDICTION CENTER HAS 50-60% CONFIDENCE IN BELOW NORMAL
TEMPERATURES IN THEIR 6-10 DAY AND 8-14 DAY OUTLOOKS. THUS...THE
FIRST 70 COULD BE AT LEAST 2 WEEKS LATER OR LONGER COMPARED TO
AVERAGE IF IT DOES NOT OCCUR THIS WEEKEND. WHATEVER HAPPENS...ENJOY
THE MILD WEATHER THROUGH THE WEEKEND...AS 40S DURING THE DAY WITH
20S AT NIGHT ARE A DISTINCT POSSIBILITY NEXT MONDAY AND TUESDAY!
