This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for north-central and northeast

.DAY ONE...Today and Tonight

Hazardous travel is likely at times today and early tonight as a
strong cold front brings mixed precipitation, snow, and the
potential for a flash freeze, to much of the area.

Roads will remain ice covered over parts of north central and far
northeast Wisconsin this morning, as a result of light freezing
rain or frost deposition. In addition, areas of dense fog will
affect parts of central and northeast Wisconsin this morning.
The combination of icy roads and poor visibility will result in
hazardous travel conditions for the morning commute.

A changeover from light rain or a wintry mix to snow should
slowly occur from northwest to southeast during the day.
Precipitation across north central Wisconsin should change to
all snow during the morning, and may become heavy at times.
Snow accumulations of 2 to 6 inches are expected in north central
Wisconsin, with the highest totals across northwest Vilas county.
Ice accumulations across the north should be less than a tenth of
an inch. Winter weather advisories have been posted for areas
northwest of a line from Wausau to Florence.

The combination of wet pavement and temperatures falling below
freezing will cause untreated roads to become icy this afternoon
and evening, resulting in a flash freeze and potentially very
hazardous travel conditions for the evening commute.

Lake effect snow showers will bring minor additional accumulations
to Vilas county tonight into Friday morning.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Friday through Wednesday

The next widespread chance of snow is forecast to occur on Sunday
night into Monday. Several inches of snow are possible with this
system, which may lead to hazardous travel at times.

Spotters are encouraged to report any occurrences of freezing
drizzle or freezing rain, and snow accumulations over north
central Wisconsin today.
