Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
440 AM CDT Sat May 27 2017

.DISCUSSION...

A rather active weather pattern is expected across the TN
Valley this weekend, with multiple rounds of thunderstorms
expected to push across the region from the northwest.
Although there is still too much uncertainty to pinpoint
specific time periods when storms will be most widespread,
a threat for strong winds, lightning and locally heavy rain
will exist throughout the holiday weekend. In fact, locations
north of the TN River may receive between 0.5-1 inch of rainfall
through late Sunday afternoon. Afternoon mixing heights will
remain between 4-5 kft today and Sunday, with an improvement in
smoke dispersion expected tomorrow as transport flow strengthens.

A more widespread round of showers/thunderstorms associated with
a cold front will likely impact the region Sunday night and Monday
morning, with locally heavy rainfall possible once again. The front
is expected to stall near or just south of the TN River and linger
for much of the week, providing daily chances for showers and
thunderstorms.

Fog potential over the next few days: Low tonight as a moderate
southwest wind will prevail over the region. Moderate Sunday night
if numerous showers and storms dissipate before sunrise Monday
morning.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
