This Hazardous Weather Outlook is for portions of Southwest North
Carolina...East Tennessee and Southwest Virginia.

.DAY ONE...This Afternoon and Tonight

Strong southerly winds are expected across the mountains and
adjacent foothills tonight through Thursday. Gusts of 40 to 50 mph
will be possible.

.DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Thursday through Tuesday

A strong storm system will move across the Tennessee Valley and
southern Appalachians during the latter half of the week into the

As the low pressure system move across the region Friday,
widespread showers and possibly thunderstorms across the southern
Tennessee Valley. Some of these storms Friday could be strong
across southeast Tennessee and southwest North Carolina. Localized
heavy rainfall will also accompany the storms on Friday.

As the system moves northeast winds into the Ohio Valley, winds
will shift to the northwest ushering a return of much colder
temperatures and windy conditions. The colder air will change the
rain to snow and snow showers over the entire region late Friday
night and Saturday. Snow accumulations are possible, especially
across the Plateau, southwest Virginia, and the far east Tennessee

Details regarding the evolution of this system is still uncertain,
and further updates to the forecast are expected.


Spotter activation is possible Friday due to the potential of
strong storms.
