...SIGNIFICANT WEATHER ADVISORY FOR SOUTH CENTRAL JEFFERSON AND NORTH
CENTRAL FRANKLIN COUNTIES UNTIL 630 PM CDT...

At 545 PM CDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm over
Rend Lake Area, moving northeast at 15 mph.

Nickel size hail and wind gusts up to 50 mph will be possible with
this storm.

Locations impacted include...
Benton, Rend Lake Area, Sesser, Ina, Bonnie, Ewing and Nason.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm, and may lead
to localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.

To report severe weather, contact your nearest law enforcement
agency. They will relay your report to the National Weather Service
office in Paducah.

If on or near Rend Lake, get out of the water and move indoors or
inside a vehicle. Remember, lightning can strike out to 10 miles
from the parent thunderstorm. If you can hear thunder, you are close
enough to be struck by lightning. Move to safe shelter now! Do not
be caught on the water in a thunderstorm.
