New: Preliminary Damage Survey Of Harlingen To Laureles Texas Microburst Event On May 9, 2026

A strong microburst from a squall line caused damage that stretched from Harlingen to Laureles, Texas during the morning hours of Saturday May 9, 2026. Damage ranged from homes to power poles and traffic lights. As many as 45,000 customers lost power from this storm as it tracked along the IH-2 corridor.
