561 FXUS65 KFGZ 270352 AFDFGZ Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Flagstaff AZ 852 PM MST Sun May 26 2024 .SYNOPSIS...Expect a warming trend beginning today and continuing into next week. Winds will not be as strong, but will gust from 10 to 20 mph each afternoon, especially over higher terrain. && .UPDATE...Only thing to talk about this evening are the clouds that are gradually dissipating across the Grand Canyon and Glen Canyon areas. With relatively clear skies and light winds overnight, expect it to be another chilly night across the High Country. Otherwise, the forecast looks to be right on track with only minor adjustments needed with the update. && .PREV DISCUSSION /420 PM MST/...A period of much quieter and warmer weather is in store through the coming week. A weak ridge of high pressure will gradually build over the Southwest and Great Basin through the middle of this week. The rising heights and lack of pressure gradients will result in warming daytime temperatures and generally light winds. By the middle of the week, temperatures should reach about 5 to 7 degrees above late May normals. Wind speeds will remain in the 10-20 mph range or less, with a few gusts nearing 25 mph midweek. The lack of wind will limit any critical fire weather, but humidities will be on a downward trend through the week. No major pattern chances are in sight through the extended forecast. Another trough passing well to our north could bring some shifts in wind directions by late next week, but still not much of an increase in speed. Expect the mild and dry weather pattern to continue through the foreseeable future (through at least next weekend). && .AVIATION...Monday 27/00Z through Tuesday 28/00Z...VFR conditions will continue. Expect generally west to southwest winds at 5 to 15 knots during the day and light, variable winds overnight. OUTLOOK...Tuesday 28/00Z through Thursday 30/00Z...VFR conditions and southwest winds at 10 to 20 knots each day. && .FIRE WEATHER...Today through Tuesday...Temperatures will continue to warm with afternoon RHs falling into the mid teens to single digits by Monday. Overnight recoveries will gradually decrease. West to southwest winds 10-20 mph each day with light winds overnight. Wednesday through Friday...Warm and dry weather continues. Afternoon RHs will be in the mid teens to single digits each day with overnight recoveries only around 20-40%. West to southwest winds 10-20 mph each day. && .FGZ WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES...None. && $$ PUBLIC...Meola/MCT AVIATION...Benji FIRE WEATHER...MCT For Northern Arizona weather information visit weather.gov/flagstaff
