AREA FORECAST DISCUSSION
National Weather Service Wilmington OH
1018 AM EDT Sat Sep 14 2024

.SYNOPSIS...
Dry weather to continue across the Ohio Valley through the
middle of next week. Upper level high pressure will remain
entrenched over the area and inhibit any significant airmass
change for the region through this time, with temperatures
running warmer than normal.

&&

.NEAR TERM /UNTIL 6 PM THIS EVENING/...
Satellite imagery shows little to no cloud cover across the
region. Maybe a little bit of cirrus will pass across the Tri-
State and a few diurnal cumulus are not out of the question.
Forecast looks on track.

&&

.SHORT TERM /6 PM THIS EVENING THROUGH 6 PM SUNDAY/...
A blocking pattern to continue with a large expansive mid and
upper level ridge centered over the eastern Great Lakes into New
England. This ridge will keep the area dry with a band of mid
level clouds across the far southwest decreasing in coverage.

Mostly sunny and warm conditions to continue. Highs today are
generally expected to be in the upper 80s.

&&

.LONG TERM /SUNDAY NIGHT THROUGH FRIDAY/...
High pressure anchored across the Northeast CONUS is expected to
keep dry weather over the ILN area. Low pressure tracking to
Virginia may bring showers to Eastern Ohio on Wednesday but POPs
remain below the 14 percent threshold for precip in our area. The
dry conditions will contribute to the severity of the expanding
drought. Temperatures will stay relatively consistent through the
period, with highs in the 80s and lows in the upper 50s to low 60s
each day.

&&

.AVIATION /14Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
A mid and upper level ridge stretching from the Great Lakes
thru the East Coast will will keep a dry and warm airmass in
place. A few mid and high clouds across the far south will thin
out this morning - leaving only a few thin high level clouds. A
few shallow fair weather cumulus clouds will also be possible
this afternoon.

VFR conditions are forecast to continue into this evening. Some
valley fog is possible at KLUK with MVFR to IFR vsby
restrictions forecast overnight.

Light east winds will increase to 10-13kts this afternoon and
then become a little more southeasterly and decrease to less
than 10 kts tonight.

OUTLOOK...No significant weather expected.
