750 FXUS64 KSJT 121822 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 122 PM CDT Wed Jun 12 2024 ...New LONG TERM... .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 138 AM CDT Wed Jun 12 2024 We should see a few isolated showers developing through this morning, mainly along and south of the I-10 corridor and potentially the far eastern portions of the Big Country and Heartland. Main impacts with any of these storms that develop will be wind, heavy rain showers, and frequent lightning. Increasing clouds and lower ceilings are beginning to develop across much of the area this morning, due to the moist airmass in place across West Central Texas. However, this will be short-lived as sunny and drier conditions will start to take over by later this morning and kickoff the warming and drying trend that is expected to last for the next week at least. Afternoon high temperatures for today will reach into mid 80s to mid 90s, and overnight lows will range in the upper 60s to low 70s. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday night through next Wednesday) Issued at 121 PM CDT Wed Jun 12 2024 Hot and generally dry conditions will prevail across West Central Texas through the middle of next week. Upper level ridging centered over Baja California and northwest Mexico will build across West Central Texas Friday into the middle part of next week. This will result in dry conditions along with above normal temperatures. Highs will generally be in the mid 90s to near 100, with overnight lows in the 70s. The GFS and ECMWF indicate an increase in moisture across coastal Texas by the middle of next week. There is uncertainty if any of this moisture will make it into the forecast area, but for now, upper level ridging looks to keep most of this moisture shunted to the southeast. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1150 AM CDT Wed Jun 12 2024 IFR stratus remained at KBBD at 17Z, but stratus was breaking up on visible satellite, so should become VFR by 19Z. Will put in some mist at KJCT and KBBD for a couple hours near sunrise Thursday...otherwise VFR. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
