Conditions given represent the highest within that period. Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be more than twice the significant wave height. Locally higher winds and seas can be expected in and near tstms. The National Weather Service is accepting public comments until July 29 2024 on a proposal to replace feet with meters when describing seas in a variety of National Marine Center text and graphical products for the Offshore and High Seas Areas only. To learn more please visit the following URL: https://ocean.weather.gov/proposed-meters.php .SYNOPSIS FOR MID ATLC WATERS...A small, well-defined, low pressure area located just off the Georgia coast early tonight will likely move inland later tonight, with chances for the system becoming a tropical depression decreasing. For more information please see details issued by the National Hurricane Center. Otherwise, high pressure will persist east of the waters with a ridge extending westward over most of the waters tonight into Sunday. The ridge will gradually shift eastward later Sunday and Sunday night as a cold front approaches the northern Mid- Atlantic coast. The cold front will move offshore and cross the northern waters Monday, and then clear east of the northern waters Monday night as the front crosses the central waters. The front will likely stall and weaken from the South Carolina coast eastward Tuesday and Tuesday night as weak high pressure forms north of the front. The front will return north as a warm front Wednesday as the high shifts east of the northern waters. The warm front will lift north of the area Wednesday night as another cold front approaches the coast from the west.
