Offshore Waters Forecast for the Gulf of Mexico

Seas given as significant wave height, which is the average
height of the highest 1/3 of the waves. Individual waves may be
more than twice the significant wave height.

Synopsis for the Gulf of Mexico

.SYNOPSIS...A broad area of low pressure is located over the
southwest Gulf, with a mean 1006 mb center, AL93, near 21.5N95W.
Strong winds surround the low center to the S of 26N and W of 92W,
and have increased to gale-force between Tampico and Veracruz this
afternoon. Winds are expected to diminish below gale-force this
evening. Environmental conditions appear conducive for gradual
development of this system as it moves slowly northwestward, and
a tropical depression could form over the western Gulf of Mexico
this weekend. Moderate to fresh winds and moderate seas prevail E
of 90W and will diminish to gentle to moderate and slight seas
tonight and to light to gentle speeds on Sun through Wed.
Conditions are forecast to improve W of 90W Sun afternoon into Mon
as the low pressure system moves inland across Mexico. Weak high
pressure will reside over the E central Gulf Tue and Wed.
