Isolated showers and thunderstorms will be possible this afternoon
and evening, mainly in the southeastern portion of our forecast
area. In fact, we are starting to see some cumulus clouds develop
in the I-10 corridor, which could be a precursor for storms in
the next few hours. These storms should decrease in coverage after
sunset. Another cold front is expected to move through the area
overnight, exiting our southern counties tomorrow morning. We
could see some scattered showers and thunderstorms as the front
moves through. The storms are expected to remain below severe
thresholds, but lightning, heavy rain, and gusty winds will be
possible. Highs will drop a few degrees for Wednesday and rain
chances will decrease once the front moves out of the area,
leaving dry conditions for Wednesday afternoon.

Overall quiet weather is expected as we close out September. On
Thursday and Friday, our area will lie between a cutoff upper
level low over the Lower Mississippi Valley and an upper level
ridge over the southwestern U.S. This will put us in dry
northerly flow between these two features. The aforementioned
upper low begins to lift off to the north into the Ohio Valley
over the weekend while the upper level high expands eastward. This
will mean a continued warm and dry pattern as we head into
October. Highs on Thursday and Friday will be in the mid 80s
warming into the upper 80s to lower 90s for Saturday and Sunday.
Lows will drop off into the 50s and lower 60s each morning.

the next couple of hours before storms decay. Front moves through
the area late tonight shifting winds from the north. Otherwise,
