833 FXUS65 KMSO 252005 AFDMSO Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Missoula MT 205 PM MDT Tue Jun 25 2024 .DISCUSSION...A ridge of high pressure which has brought us a nice sunny and warm day, will be shoved eastward late Wednesday as a low pressure trough and cold front approach the area. Clouds will be on the increase during the day Wednesday with some showers and a few thunderstorms developing Wednesday evening through the overnight areas. Thursday into Friday the front moves through the region with showers and thunderstorms becoming widespread during the afternoon. The biggest threat from storms will be some gusty outflow winds and lightning. Precipitation amounts will be limited, generally less than .20" with some local higher amounts in the mountains across Northwest Montana and along the continental Divide. These limited amounts are due to the storms/showers moving quickly with the frontal passage. The low pressure system will move into North Central Montana. It`s looking like moisture will wrap around this low and bring a more steady along the Canadian Border and Glacier National Park, between .10 and .25" of additional rain. Saturday, a weak ridge of high pressure will result in a sunny and pleasant day. Clouds will begin to sneak into the region late Saturday. This is ahead of our next frontal passage which will bring another round of shower and thunderstorms to the region Sunday into Monday. Expect gusty westerly winds Monday as the front pushes through the region. && .AVIATION...VFR conditions through 26/2300z. Expect an increase in westerly winds, with gusts to 15 mph, after 26/2000z. && .MSO WATCHES/WARNINGS/ADVISORIES... MT...None. ID...None. && $$
