535 FXUS64 KSJT 252310 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 610 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 ...New AVIATION... .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Wednesday) Issued at 251 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 Main concern in the short term is the heat, with a heat advisory issued for Wednesday afternoon. Upper ridge remains entrenched across west Texas through the short term, with afternoon highs continuing to climb into the upper 90s to around 100 degrees. Increasing low level moisture across the eastern counties will lead to heat index values in the 103 to 107 range, mainly east of a Brady to Coleman to Albany line tomorrow afternoon. Have issued a heat advisory, which may need to be extended into Thursday. && .LONG TERM... (Wednesday night through next Tuesday) Issued at 152 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 Hot and dry conditions will continue across West Central Texas through the extended forecast. An upper level ridge will continue to dominate the weather across much of Texas, including West Central Texas, resulting in above normal temperatures. Highs will generally be in the upper 90s to 104, with overnight lows in the 70s. Heat index values on Thursday may approach Heat Advisory criteria again across our eastern counties, but should be slightly lower than what is forecast on Wednesday. No rain is forecast through the beginning of next week. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 608 PM CDT Tue Jun 25 2024 VFR conditions currently present at all terminals. Gusts are expected to taper off after 02Z, leaving winds out of the south to southeast at 7 to 12 kts. MVFR ceilings are expected to build north out of South-Central Texas and into our southern terminals of KJCT and KSOA late overnight and into the early morning hours. These should scatter out through the morning with sites returning to VFR by mid/late morning. Winds will begin to back more to the southeast by tomorrow afternoon with sustained speeds comparable to today with some sub-20kt gusts possible, especially at KSJT. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
