...A STRONG THUNDERSTORM WILL IMPACT SOUTHWESTERN PUTNAM...WEST
CENTRAL KANAWHA...NORTHEASTERN LINCOLN AND NORTH CENTRAL BOONE
COUNTIES THROUGH 430 PM EDT...

At 406 PM EDT, Doppler radar was tracking a strong thunderstorm near
Alum Creek, or 7 miles east of Hamlin, moving east at 35 mph.

HAZARD...Wind gusts up to 40 mph and pea size hail.

SOURCE...Radar indicated.

IMPACT...Gusty winds could knock down tree limbs and blow around
         unsecured objects. Minor hail damage to vegetation is
         possible.

Locations impacted include...
Charleston, Nitro, Jefferson, South Charleston, St. Albans, Dunbar,
Chesapeake, Marmet, Belle, Alum Creek, Institute, Tornado, Coal Fork,
Sweetland, Sod, Griffithsville, and Yawkey.

This includes the following highways...
 Interstate 79 between mile markers 1 and 6.
 Interstate 77 in West Virginia between mile markers 96 and 108.
 Interstate 64 in West Virginia between mile markers 49 and 57.
 West Virginia Turnpike between mile markers 84 and 95.
 Route 119 between mile markers 61 and 80.

PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS...

If outdoors, consider seeking shelter inside a building.

Torrential rainfall is also occurring with this storm and may lead to
localized flooding. Do not drive your vehicle through flooded
roadways.

Frequent cloud to ground lightning is occurring with this storm.
Lightning can strike 10 miles away from a thunderstorm. Seek a safe
shelter inside a building or vehicle.

This storm may intensify, so be certain to monitor local radio
stations and available television stations for additional information
and possible warnings from the National Weather Service.
