Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Binghamton NY
244 AM EDT Sat Aug 30 2025

.SYNOPSIS...

High pressure builds across the area, bringing dry conditions
through midweek next week. A front pushes through the area
later next week bringing rain showers.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
245 AM Update...

 Now through Wednesday Night...

The upper level low currently north of New England will slowly
continue progressing eastward, with the current surface high
pressure in Michigan pushes into our area from the west. Dry
conditions are expected now through around midweek next week.
Temperatures will warm going into next week as well, with high
temperatures in the mid to upper 70s by Wednesday.

 Wednesday Night through Friday...

The next system comes from the northwest, where a front
associated with an upper level low will swing into our area
around Thursday afternoon/Thursday overnight timeframe. Guidance
depicts hours long differences in arrival, therefore remained
with the NBM solution.

&&

.AVIATION /07Z SATURDAY THROUGH WEDNESDAY/...
Dry weather with VFR conditions expected through the TAF period
across all terminals.

ELM has once again been a tricky forecast in regards to fog
formation tonight. Winds remain active at the surface with
stronger winds just above, keeping mixing in the fold and fog
formation at bay. Clouds look to move in from the north for the
next few hours, which should help keep surface temperatures from
falling to the fog crossover temperature, which is around 41F.
Guidance shows a slight chance for patchy fog around ELM for an
hour or two around sunrise, but with the active winds and lows
greater than 41 expected, confidence was not high enough to
include fog and IFR/LIFR conditions in the ELM TAF.

Outlook...

Saturday Night through Wednesday...VFR with high pressure.
Valley fog possible at or near ELM most mornings.
