.DISCUSSION...Today through Wednesday...
Gusty winds of 20-30 kts with some isolated gusts up to 40 kts
are possible in the high country through mid-day today. Warmer and
drier weather is expected today and Sunday. An isolated shower or
storm will be possible in/near the higher terrain, particularly
on Sunday. Relative humidity values will be in the mid teens to
low 20s for much of the plains today and Sunday. Fire weather
conditions will become elevated on the plains due to breezy south
winds gusting to 25-30 mph and the lower RH values on Sunday
afternoon. Minimum RH values will rise into upper 20s to lower 30s
for much of the plains on Monday ahead of an incoming storm
system.
A storm system is still expected to arrive early to mid-week next
week, which will bring cooler temperatures along with a chance of
precipitation to much of the forecast area. As of now, the high
country is the most favorable location for rain and potentially
some snow at the highest elevations on Monday night into Tuesday.
The plains may also see prolonged rain through at least Wednesday
depending on the exact track and evolution of this next storm.
Overall, light winds, high humidity levels, and potential
precipitation will keep fire weather concerns minimized through
this period.
