917 FXUS65 KGGW 090906 AFDGGW Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service Glasgow MT 206 AM MST Sun Nov 9 2025 .DISCUSSION... KEY MESSAGES: - Cold conditions continue today before a strong brief warm up on Monday. - Temperatures will remain above normal but not as warm as Monday for the remainder of the week with mostly dry conditions. WEATHER PATTERN OVERVIEW: High pressure will drop into the northern plains today keeping temperatures cold. Temperatures warm on Monday as building ridge is suppressed by a shortwave moving through the Canadian Rockies and creating a strong chinook event. The shortwave will briefly flatten the ridge Monday night. Once the wave pushes east on Tuesday, the ridge is expected to rebound keeping temperatures above normal into next weekend. The ridge moves to the east on Friday with an upper trough expected next weekend. Models and ensembles have significant differences on the strength of the trough and whether or not any moisture makes it east of the continental divide. NBM maintains a mostly dry forecast for NE Montana at this time but it may change depending on what models and ensembles do on future runs. LAST UPDATE: 0900Z FLIGHT CAT RANGE: MVFR - VFR DISCUSSION: A band of low clouds covers parts of NE Montana early this morning with a mix of MVFR and low VFR ceilings. These clouds will slowly clear today with high pressure over the northern plains. Scattered mid level clouds are expected this afternoon and evening before a deck of mid and high clouds move in from the west late tonight. WIND: Light and variable early becoming SE 5 to 10 knots this morning. SE winds will continue at 5 to 15 knots this afternoon and become south to SE tonight.
