.Discussion...
Increasing westerly winds and continued very warm and dry conditions
will produce critical fire weather conditions over a more widespread
area today. A Red Flag Warning remains in effect for the San Luis
Valley, Fremont and Crowley counties, and portions of the I-25
Corridor from 10 AM until 7 PM tonight. Winds are forecast to gust
up to 35 mph, combining with RH levels in the 7 to 11 percent range.
Persistent dry and warm conditions, coupled with gusty westerly
winds, will produce spotty critical fire weather conditions across
Fremont County Tuesday afternoon, so a Fire Weather Watch has been
issued there.
A passing system will bring light precipitation as well as some
thunder to the eastern mountains and plains Tuesday afternoon into
early Wednesday. Fire danger will be on the increase once again
starting Thursday and lasting into the weekend.
Surface-based inversions will break between 0900 and 1000 this
morning, with ventilation rates improving to Very Good to Excellent
for most areas between 1400 and 1800. Similar favorable smoke
dispersion trends are anticipated for Tuesday.
