349 FXUS64 KSJT 162251 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX Issued by National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 551 PM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Seasonably hot temperatures are expected in the first half of this week, but could trend a few degrees lower in the latter part of the week. - Mainly a dry forecast first half of the week, with some low rain chances in the second half. && .SHORT TERM... (This evening through Tuesday) Issued at 255 PM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025 Our area will remain on the eastern periphery of an upper level ridge through Tuesday. The ridge is still forecast to begin shifting to the west and to become re-centered over the Baja Peninsula Tuesday. Skies will be generally clear tonight and Tuesday. Tonight will be warm and humid with overnight lows in the lower to mid 70s. With the 850mb thermal ridge expanding a bit eastward into our area on Tuesday, temperatures will be a few degrees hotter than today. Highs will be in the upper 90s to 102 in the Big Country and Concho Valley. With lee surface trough development to our west and an increased pressure gradient, expect increased and gusty south winds from late morning through the afternoon. && .LONG TERM... (Tuesday night through next Monday) Issued at 130 PM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025 Weak shortwave set to move across the Southern Plains for Wednesday afternoon into Wednesday evening. CAMs like the NAMNEST show a few storms developing Wednesday afternoon along a dryline along the western or northwestern portions of the area. Any convection that develops would shift northeast and may move across the Big Country Wednesday evening. Carrying slight chance to chance POPs for area mainly north of I-20. Chances farther south into the Concho Valley and Heartland aren`t zero, but at this point, will not mention in the forecast yet. Upper level ridge builds into the Southeast US for the end of the week into the weekend, with good southeast flow at all levels off the gulf into Texas. This will bring mid and upper level temperatures down a few degrees, as well an increase the chance for at least some afternoon cumulus to develop. This combination likely to keep highs more in the upper 80s to lower 90s across the area. This is also a pattern where sea-breeze convection can sometimes work its way very far inland and will start to mention a few showers and storms across the Northwest Hill Country counties. && .AVIATION... (00Z TAFS) Issued at 549 PM CDT Mon Jun 16 2025 VFR conditions are expected for the next 24 hours. South winds will increase late tomorrow morning, with gusts up to 30 mph in the afternoon. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
