  reach heat advisory criteria across northern portions of the
  area Thursday through Saturday.

An upper level ridge centered across New Mexico will result continue
the hot and dry conditions through the next 24 hours. Highs this
afternoon will be in the mid 90s to 103 with similar high
temperatures on Wednesday. These temperatures are near to slightly
above seasonal normals. Expect overnight lows in the low to mid
70s.

.LONG TERM...
(Wednesday night through next Tuesday)

The aforementioned upper level ridge will remain across the Desert
Southwest into the weekend and strengthen. This will result in a
gradual uptick in temperatures Friday into Saturday. Friday and
Saturday portions of the area, especially the northern half of the
forecast area, may reach or exceed Heat Advisory criteria. Highs in
these locations will be between 103 and 106 with similar heat index
values. Farther south highs will be in the upper 90s to near 102.

Late Saturday into Sunday, the upper level ridge will inch a bit
farther west. This will allow a weak cold front to track south
across the region late Saturday into Sunday morning. At this point
we are expecting a mainly dry frontal passage. Temperatures will
still be hot on Sunday, but a few degrees cooler than forecast highs
on Saturday. Highs will be in the mid 90s to near 102.
