515 FXUS64 KSJT 121704 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX Issued by National Weather Service Midland/Odessa TX 1204 PM CDT Thu Jun 12 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - Warmer and drier weather expected this weekend into early next week. Some locations could reach 100 degrees. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 208 AM CDT Thu Jun 12 2025 Early this morning an upper-level low was located over west central Texas and was moving slowly eastward. Some scattered showers and thunderstorms were occurring over the Concho Valley and were moving southeast. As the upper-level low continues eastward, mid-level winds on the backside of this feature will turn out of the north and result in overall downward motion. This should suppress further showers and storms from developing once the final batch moves out of our forecast area around sunrise. Any patchy fog or low clouds that developed overnight should dissipate by mid-morning and give way to sunny skies for the rest of the day. Given the lack of cloud cover, temperatures this afternoon should be several degrees warmer than yesterday. A mild night can be expected with low temperatures around 70, while some cloud cover could move in from the southeast. && .LONG TERM... (Friday through Wednesday) Issued at 1252 AM CDT Thu Jun 12 2025 For Friday through early next week an upper level ridge building over Texas will result in warmer and dry conditions over our area with highs in the 90s this weekend and then hot with highs in the mid 90s to around 102 early next week. it will also be humid through the long term as dewpoints remain in the 60s to lower 70s. Afternoon heating and some instability could lead to an isolated shower/thunderstorm each afternoon and evening, but rain chances look very low Friday through Wednesday across much of the area. && .AVIATION... (18Z TAFS) Issued at 1145 AM CDT Thu Jun 12 2025 Light winds and VFR conditions will prevail through most of the next 24 hours. Stratus will develop across the Big Country and result in MVFR ceilings at KJCT between 10Z and 15Z. Some stratus is possible at KSOA and KBBD, but confidence remains low so have continued VFR conditions. VFR conditions will return to all sites by mid to late morning. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
