Scattered thunderstorms along with scattered to numerous heavy rain showers will continue into the early part of the overnight across the foothills, northern Piedmont, and Blue Ridge mountains of the Carolinas. While a brief severe storm producing damaging winds and perhaps hail to the size of quarters will be possible, the main threat will be from very heavy rainfall and localized flash flooding, especially along the Blue Ridge escarpment near the North and South Carolina border. Frequent cloud to ground lightning will also be possible with any thunderstorms. .DAYS TWO THROUGH SEVEN...Tuesday through Sunday.
