Area Forecast Discussion
National Weather Service Hanford CA
306 AM PDT Tue Jul 27 2021

.SYNOPSIS...Temperatures will warm back to slight above normal
into the weekend. Conditions will be predominantly dry except a
the slight chance of thunderstorms over the high Sierra each
afternoon.

&&

.DISCUSSION...
A couple of remnant showers just north of Yosemite. Otherwise
some mid level clouds across central CA. Cloud cover is more
widespread across the north with some clearing across the south
valley. Water vapor images shows a dry slot at upper levels moving
in from the south. The deeper monsoon moisture has pushed north
over NCal. A fast south flow aloft will prevail across the
district in between an offshore low and ridge over the interior
west. While the axis of monsoon moisture remains just east of the
sierra. Think a few storms will be possible in the afternoon
mainly near the higher ridges but should be pretty isolated with
some lower level moisture in place. Model ensembles in fair
agreement and prog for the offshore low to start a weakening trend
Wednesday. However a SSE flow around the ridge will continue to
bring surges of monsoon moisture from north Mexico near and east
of the sierra possibly through Friday. This will result in a more
favorable storm environment over the sierra with daytime heating
and wind convergence to trigger convection Wednesday through
Friday. The offshore low finally moves onshore through NCal
Saturday. Convective storms could affect the Kern county mountains
and desert Saturday as models prog some tropical moisture moving
into SCal from offshore. A drier onshore flow sets up across Ca
Sunday. This should result in result in drier and cooler conditions
for next week.
