.Discussion...
A cold front pushed across the eastern plains overnight, producing
brisk northerly winds and much cooler temperatures for the eastern
half of the district today. However, further west the high valleys
will not see much effect front the front, so warm and dry conditions
will persist there, producing critical fire weather conditions
today. Therefore, a Red Flag Warning has been issued for Fire Zones
220 and 224 today from 1 PM until 7 PM. The main areas of concern
for zone 220 will be the valley floor.
Persistent dry and warming conditions, coupled with gusty west to
northwest winds, will produce widespread high fire danger for much
of the district Thursday through Saturday. A Fire Weather Watch has
been issued for portions of the area late Thursday morning through
Thursday evening, and additional highlights for Friday and Saturday
are probable.
Another cooldown is forecast for Sunday and Monday, then back into
the heat starting Tuesday.
Brisk winds overnight kept the lower atmosphere well-mixed, so
ventilation rates will become Good to Very Good for most locations
by 1000 and last through 1900. Improved smoke dispersion is forecast
for Thursday.
