ILS CIGs likely in the Denver metro area for the remainder of
the day. The low ceilings are not necessarily expected to
produce any appreciable precip, at least not until this
afternoon. Light east-northeast winds will prevail through 06z
tonight which will be another reason for the ILS CIGs. Rain
showers are still expected to become widespread after 23z today.
Could see patchy fog with this precip overnight, but VSBYs
probably not falling below 3 miles.

Showers and thunderstorms will increase in coverage across the area
today, with VFR cigs becoming MVFR by mid to late morning at most
taf sites. Mountains will see periods of IFR cigs and vis, and most
higher terrain will remain obscured from late morning into the
overnight hours.  Lower cigs and shower chances will linger into the
evening at the terminals, with precip ending and conditions becoming
VFR after midnight.

West of the Divide...KBPI/KJAC/KPNA/KRKS Routes
Localized MVFR conditions still possible early in the period, but
trend should be to VFR conditions at KBPI, KPNA, and KJAC as
moisture axis slides east. KRKS will be the more difficult terminal
to forecast as conditions could bounce around through the period.
What not be surprised to see a scenario with some partial clearing
followed by quick low cloud formation. Overall, persistent MVFR
ceilings may be the best bet, with some possible improvement to VFR
Saturday afternoon. 700mb low strengthens over northeast Utah with
divergence fields and moisture ahead of this feature increasing the
likelihood of precipitation after 00Z/Sun. Have indicated a trend
toward deteriorating conditions after 02Z/Sun as a result. Expect
gusty 15G25kt ENE wind to also increase at KRKS as pressure gradient
tightens between 00Z-06Z/Sun. Mountain top obscurations will persist
throughout the forecast period, with mountain obscurations after
00Z/Sun in far southern Wyoming around and south of KRKS.
East of the Divide...KCOD/KCPR/KLND/KRIW/KWRL Routes
Light precipitation on the decrease early Saturday morning. Moisture
continues to overrun dome of cooler air in central Wyoming, but jet
dynamics are slowly shifting east. IFR/MVFR persistence forecast
makes sense and have stayed that course with this forecast. Moist
boundary layer means that any attempt at partial clearing will
likely be met with new low cloud development. Light precipitation
should start to break out between 15Z-18Z/Sat in central Wyoming,
with precipitation not as likely at KCOD and KWRL. Precipitation
should become more widespread during the afternoon across central
Wyoming as low-level upslope increases in response to 700mb low
strengthening in northeast Utah. Position of this low should be
favorable for precipitation to continue through at least Saturday
night at KCPR and KRIW. Dynamics and right entrance region of the
jet should enhance precipitation between 00Z-06Z/Sun. Better
moisture envelops this region after 06Z/Sun, so have trended toward
deteriorating conditions and the possibility of a rain/snow mix.

VFR conditions will prevail at all TAF sites through early Sunday
morning. Isolated to widely scattered thunderstorms will then be
possible in the vicinity of KGCK and KLBL toward daybreak resulting
in possible MVFR cigs/vsbys. Southerly winds 20 to 30kt will persist
across western Kansas through early this evening as a strong surface
low remains anchored across southeast Colorado. Winds may subside a
little later this evening and through the overnight hours with the
loss of daytime heating.

For the 12Z TAFs:
VFR conditions will prevail through the beginning of the TAF
period until thunderstorms begin to impact the terminals late this
afternoon/early evening. Chances are pretty good for
thunderstorms to develop in eastern New Mexico and push east
across the Panhandles. Models have been pretty consistent with
developing a line of storms, and this would lead to decent chances
of impacting the terminals today/tonight due to a large coverage
area of storms. During this time frame impacts to both ceilings
and visibility will likely result within any thunderstorms that
develop. These are the main threats outside of the obvious strong
wind gusts and hail. Chances are high for MVFR within any
thunderstorms that develop, but one cannot rule out perhaps brief
periods of IFR as well. Storms will linger around into the evening
hours, but the extent of these storms is in question at this time.

Albuquerque Aviation Discussion

A high impact weather event is taking shape as several bands of SHRA/
TSRA spread across NM thru tonight. The biggest forecast challenge is
timing the main impact windows with these bands as they move slowly
east. The first band stretching between KGUP and KFMN is expected to
shift into the northwest mts while tapering off thru 00Z. Mainly VFR
is occurring here with a direct hit possibly bringing a brief MVFR
cig/vsby restriction. The second band is focused within the RGV and
is expected to drift eastward thru 21Z before consolidating over the
Sangre de Cristo Mts this evening. The same applies with direct hits
capable of brief MVFR cigs/vsbys. The most significant impacts are
currently over eastern NM where the third band is developing in the
area between KROW, KTCC, and KLVS. Storms with heavy rainfall will
train repeatedly over the same areas so long duration IFR impacts are
possible at KTCC and KROW by later today. There is also an area of
MVFR low cigs between KLVS and KRTN that are expected to remain in
place for much of the day. Clearing is shown by guidance to shift
slowly eastward tonight from western NM into the Rio Grande Valley.
