Afternoon high temperatures today are expected to reach into the mid 90s to 102, with overnight lows tonight only falling into the low to mid 70s. South to southeasterly winds will become breezy by later this morning, around 10 to 15 mph with a few gusts up to 25 mph. Winds are expected to become more light and southeasterly again overnight tonight. && .LONG TERM... (Saturday through Thursday) Issued at 213 AM CDT Fri Jun 7 2024 Expect mainly hot and dry conditions this weekend due to an upper level ridge over the area and 850 MB thermal ridge over western Texas. Highs will be in the upper 90s to around 103. Expect a little break from the hot and dry weather, with a chance of rain early next week as a cold front moves through and a few weak upper level disturbances move by. Going with low to medium chance of showers and thunderstorms Sunday night and Monday, with low rain chances across the north Monday night. There may be enough instability and deep layer shear for an isolated severe storm or two Sunday and Monday. Going with a dry and warmer forecast Tuesday through Thursday as the upper level ridge re-builds across the Southern Rockies extending east into western Texas, with highs back in the triple digits across southern and western areas Thursday. && .AVIATION...
