819 FXUS64 KSJT 191118 AFDSJT Area Forecast Discussion National Weather Service San Angelo TX 618 AM CDT Wed Mar 19 2025 ...New AVIATION... .KEY MESSAGES... - A Wind Advisory and Red Flag Warning remain in effect across all of West Central Texas through this evening for gusty west to northwesterly winds with gusts ranging from 35 to 50 mph. - Elevated to critical fire weather conditions will continue across most of west central Texas this week. && .SHORT TERM... (Today and tonight) Issued at 232 AM CDT Wed Mar 19 2025 Very dry and windy conditions will persist through this afternoon, as RH values remain in the 5 to 15 percent range and winds shift to the west to northwest with gusts as high as 50 mph possible today. As a result, the Red Flag Warning and Wind Advisory will remain in effect today across all of West Central Texas through this evening to cover the gusty winds and Critical Fire Weather conditions. Winds are expect to gradually diminish this evening into the overnight hours tonight with slightly better relative humidity recoveries overnight into the 40 to 50 percent range compared to last nights little to no RH recovery. As for temperatures, the cold air advection behind the front this morning will keep cooler temperatures in the low 60s to low 70s for high temperatures today. Overnight lows tonight will fall into the low to mid 30s with some low-lying areas potentially falling just below freezing overnight tonight into early Thursday morning. && .LONG TERM... (Thursday through Tuesday) Issued at 414 AM CDT Wed Mar 19 2025 Westerly flow aloft will prevail into the weekend as flat ridging sets up over west central Texas. Thursday will be mostly sunny with pleasant temperatures. Highs will be in the mid 60s to lower 70s, with overnight lows in the 40s. Temperatures will warm back up into the 80s for Friday and Saturday. Another front is forecast to move into the Big Country on Sunday afternoon and through the rest of the area during the evening hours. Highs will be slightly cooler on Monday and warm back up on Tuesday. Otherwise, no precipitation is expected through the next seven days. && .AVIATION... (12Z TAFS) Issued at 603 AM CDT Wed Mar 19 2025 Strong winds and blowing dust pushed through the area overnight last night and into this morning, with little to no reprieve before winds begin to increase again this morning across much of the area. Dust continues to cause visibility restrictions and MVFR to IFR ceilings across all terminals except for KABI which has cleared out. Expect strong west to northwesterly winds gusting from 30 to 40 knots across the area through this afternoon and evening, then diminishing to light and variable tonight into Thursday. The "dust will settle" briefly before winds pick up again around 14Z to 16Z and bring the potential for more dust to get kicked up and reduce visibilities again today. && .PRELIMINARY POINT TEMPS/POPS...
