Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
357 AM MDT Sat Jul 11 2020

.Discussion...

A frontal boundary will arrive this morning with northerly winds
expected across the Plains, shifting southeast this afternoon. Mostly
dry conditions are expected this afternoon and evening outside an isolated
thunderstorm on the Raton Mesa, and possibly Teller County. Overall this
probability is low. For Sunday, southeasterly winds will pool moisture
across the Plains allowing for destabilization. A few strong to
severe storms are possible on the Plains Sunday afternoon. Flat westerly
zonal flow is expected from Monday into Thursday with near daily
afternoon and evening thunderstorms, initiating over the mountains,
and spreading east into the Plains. Near critical fire weather conditions
due to low humidity and gusty winds may be possible over the San Luis
Valley on Monday. High pressure will then build across the region into
the weekend with more monsoonal type conditions.

Poor smoke dispersions are expected this morning, becoming excellent
by this afternoon and evening. Poor dispersions are forecast for tonight.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
