Mostly sunny and cold weather encompassed the Kansas region
today, as Arctic high pressure settled south across Mid- America.
Early morning wind chills were as cold as 20 below, owing to
breezy northwest winds. Late afternoon temperatures across the
eastern half of Kansas had warmed into the teens...about 25
degrees colder than seasonal normals.

Cold weather will continue overnight under the influence of clear
skies and relatively light winds. Forecast low temperatures are
in the single digits to below zero, with pre-dawn wind chills as
cold as about 10 degrees below zero expected.

Warmer and breezy weather will return for Wednesday, as high
pressure settles to the east. Forecast high temperatures are in
the 20s and 30s, although western Kansas will see readings close
to 50 degrees.
