THE OVERNIGHT PERIOD WAS PARTLY CLOUDY AND MILD ACROSS EASTERN
KANSAS. EARLY MORNING TEMPERATURES WERE IN THE 70S...WITH
SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 5 TO 15 MPH.

HIGH PRESSURE WILL BUILD ALOFT OVER THE LOWER MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND
SOUTHERN PLAINS...WITH A LEE SURFACE TROUGH FROM EASTERN COLORADO TO
WESTERN NEBRASKA. BREEZY SOUTHERLY WINDS OF 15 TO 25 MPH WILL LEAD
TO A VERY WARM TO HOT DAY ACROSS THE CENTRAL PLAINS. THUNDERSTORMS
WILL BE POSSIBLE THIS MORNING FROM NORTHEASTERN NEBRASKA ACROSS
IOWA...TO NORTHEASTERN MISSOURI. WIDELY SCATTERED THUNDERSTORMS MAY
DEVELOP THIS AFTERNOON INTO TONIGHT NEAR THE LEE TROUGH AXIS OVER
THE HIGH PLAINS. OTHER ISOLATED AFTERNOON AND EVENING STORMS WILL BE
POSSIBLE FROM THE OZARKS INTO EASTERN OKLAHOMA. THIS WILL LEAVE MOST
OF THE KANSAS REGION DRY.

HIGH TEMPERATURES THIS AFTERNOON WILL BE MAINLY FROM THE MIDDLE 90S
TO AROUND 100 DEGREES. WITH HUMIDITY FACTORED IN...THIS WILL RESULT
IN HEAT INDICES OF 100 TO 104 DEGREES. LOWS TONIGHT WILL BE IN THE
60S FROM WESTERN NEBRASKA INTO FAR NORTHWEST KANSAS...AND IN THE 70S
ELSEWHERE.
