Fire Weather Planning Forecast FOR S Cntrl and Sern Colorado
National Weather Service Pueblo Co
257 PM MDT Thu Apr 19 2018

...A RED FLAG WARNING is in affect through 8 PM for gusty winds,
low relative humidity values, high Haines indices and dry fuels
for fire weather zones 220 through 222, 224 through 233 and 235,
which includes the San Luis Valley, the lower elevations of the
Sangre de Cristo, Wet Mountains, Pikes Peak and the Rampart Range,
and Lake, Chaffee, Fremont, El Paso, Pueblo, Crowley, Huerfano,
Las Animas, Bent and Otero Counties...

.Discussion...

Red Flag conditions will occur into the early evening hours
across most of the district due to strong winds, low humidity
values and high Haines index values. The primary concern is
strong winds gusting to 45 mph over most of the region. These
strong winds will keep up through the night tonight as a pacific
storm moves towards the region. This storm will move over the
region tomorrow and it will bring beneficial high elevation
snows to all of the mountains and rain showers to the valleys
and lower elevations. The best chance for significant
rain on the plains will occur across the Palmer Divide and the
far southeastern plains. 5 to 10 inches of beneficial wet snow
will occur over the higher terrain.

The storm moving across the region will last into Saturday
morning.

Another disturbance will move across the district late monday
and this disturbance will bring cooler weather and a chance of
precipitation Monday afternoon and Monday night. Another chance
of rain will occur Wednesday night.

--- thunderstorms imply strong gusty and erratic winds ---
