Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Northern Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
503 AM CST Sat Feb 15 2020

.DISCUSSION...

Dry conditions will persist across northern AL today, as the
region will remain under the influence of an arctic ridge of high
pressure along the eastern Seaboard. Although a modest increase in
high-level clouds is anticipated throughout the day, developing
south-southeasterly flow along the western rim of the ridge will
allow temperatures to climb into the mid 50s this afternoon.
Minimum RH values will be in the 35-45% range, due to the both the
increase in air temperatures and lingering presence of a dry
airmass. Cloud cover will increase rather quickly after sunset, as
an upper-level trough approaches the region from the west, and
this should limit the potential for fog formation overnight. A few
light showers will be possible during the day on Sunday, as the
trough slowly crosses the TN Valley. Mixing heights of 2500-3500
ft and transport flow of 10-15 MPH will provide fair smoke
dispersion both today and on Sunday.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy fog will be possible
across the region late Sunday night/early Monday morning.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
