Regional Weather Summary
National Weather Service Wichita KS
331 PM CDT Sat May 18 2024

Sunny and warm conditions prevailed across central and eastern
Kansas this afternoon. A weak cold front moved into northeast and
central Kansas switching winds to the north with south winds ahead
of the front across the rest of the area. The front made little
difference in temperatures with late afternoon readings generally
in the 80s to around 90 degrees.

Isolated showers and thunderstorms are possible along the front
across central and northeast Kansas this evening. A better chance
for showers and storms will develop and move across the high
Plains of northwest Kansas and southwest Nebraska tonight,
possibly reaching north central Kansas toward dawn. The front will
become nearly stationary overnight across central Kansas before
moving slightly north as a warm front Sunday. Low pressure will
form on the front in western Kansas on Sunday with showers and
storms, some possibly severe, expected in the afternoon and
evening moving from western Kansas and northwest Oklahoma into
central and south central Kansas and north central Oklahoma.

Low temperatures tonight will generally range from the mid-50s to
the mid-60s. Highs on Sunday will generally range from the 80s to
the mid-90s, except for some cooler 70s in Iowa and Nebraska.
