...New AVIATION...

.SHORT TERM...
(This evening through Thursday)
Issued at 250 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024

Excessive heat continues to be the main weather story in the short
term. The upper level ridge continues to keep a grip on west Texas
and expands a bit farther east through the next couple of days.
Southeasterly low level flow is resulting in dewpoints in the mid
to upper 60s across the area. With afternoon temperatures reaching
to 100 degrees, heat index values will climb into the dangerous
103 to 107 degree range again tomorrow. Little recovery is
expected tonight, with lows in the upper 70s tonight. A few
morning low clouds will be possible along the Interstate 10
corridor. Otherwise, expect plenty of sunshine tomorrow.

.LONG TERM...
(Thursday night through next Wednesday)
Issued at 138 PM CDT Wed Jun 26 2024

An upper level ridge will continue to dominate the weather across
West Central Texas through early next week. This will result in
mainly dry conditions along with above normal temperatures. Highs
Friday into early next week will be in the upper 90s to 104, with
overnight lows in the 70s to near 80. A weak cold front will move
into Oklahoma late Saturday into Sunday. This front is forecast to
stall near the Red River, keeping any rain chances north of the
forecast area.
