(Today and tonight) Issued at 352 AM CDT Sat Jun 22 2024 High pressure continues to slowly build back over West Central Texas, which will generally bring warmer and drier conditions to the area. Mostly to partly cloudy skies will clear out through this morning, with high temperatures warming into the 90s this afternoon. Warmest temperatures in the mid to upper 90s are expected across the Big Country and Concho Valley this afternoon, with overnight lows falling into the upper 60s to mid 70s. && .LONG TERM... (Sunday through Friday) Issued at 341 AM CDT Sat Jun 22 2024 Hot and dry conditions are in store for our area Sunday well into next week. An upper level ridge will be centered over Texas Sunday into the first part of the week, before retrograding a little farther west over New Mexico by midweek. The ridge is then progged to shift east to the Red River Valley around Friday. With the close proximity of the ridge and associated subsidence, no rain is expected temperatures will be above normal for our area with hot days and warm nights. Other than some early morning low clouds over our southern and southeastern counties, skies will mostly clear each day. Highs Sunday will be mostly in the mid to upper 90s. For the work week, expect much of the Concho Valley and Big Country to have highs 100-103 degrees, with mid to upper 90s in the Heartland and our southern counties. Afternoon heat indices are expected to be near to a few degrees above the ambient temperatures, most notably in our Big Country and Heartland counties. Morning lows will be mostly in the mid 70s for our southern and central counties, and generally in the upper 70s in the Big Country. && .AVIATION...
