Fire Weather Planning Forecast for Alabama
National Weather Service Huntsville AL
429 AM CST Tue Dec 9 2025

.DISCUSSION...

Dry and warmer conditions are expected across northern AL for
much of the period from today-Wednesday, although a few showers
along the southwestern portion of a reinforcing cold front may
impact the northeastern corner of the state tomorrow afternoon. As
low stratus clouds continue to erode from NE-to-SW this morning,
high clouds will begin to spread across the region and could
become overcast at times (especially tomorrow). Smoke dispersion
indices will be in the fair range today, but should improve
tomorrow as mixing heights rise to 4500-5000 ft and transport
winds increase to around 25 MPH. In the extended period, it
appears as if dry weather conditions will continue for the next
several days, followed by an increasing chance for rain early this
weekend. A strong cold front is likely to arrive on Sunday
morning, ushering an arctic airmass into the region late this
weekend.

Fog potential over the next few days: Patchy freezing mist/fog
will be possible in a few locations this morning (mainly across
northeast AL). Development of fog on Wednesday/Thursday mornings
will be confined to wind-sheltered locations.

Potential for Red Flag Conditions: None at this time.
